Brand Identity Process

Branding your business is one of the most exciting parts of starting up, and rebranding is equally as exciting!

 

I’m here every step of the way to help bring your vision to life.

 

For a typical brand identity project, allow 3-4 weeks. If some collateral marketing materials are included, add an extra 1-4 weeks.

Step One

Initial Contact

I'll schedule a brief call to get to know you better. I'm excited to hear about your project and the challenges you're facing.

Proposal and Agreement:

After our conversation, I'll send you a customised proposal for the design package we discussed. 50% payment is required to begin the project. The remaining 50% is due upon project completion.

Step Two

Brand Discovery Session

In-depth Interview

Every project starts with a comprehensive conversation with you (and any other relevant stakeholders) about your company's background, objectives, target audience, and competition. We'll delve into who your brand needs to resonate with and what sets you apart.

Brand Personality Assessment

We'll focus on defining your brand's personality using engaging and enjoyable exercises. These exercises help us avoid generic outcomes and highlight your distinctiveness.

 

They may include:

  • Brand archetype: Identifying a symbolic character that aligns with your organization.

  • Intangibles: Exploring the unique qualities you offer beyond your products or services.

  • Qualities: Creating an extensive list of descriptive words that reflect how you want your brand to be perceived.

Written Brief

Based on our insights, I will create a comprehensive brief that serves as a roadmap for your brand identity design project. This brief will capture the concepts and ideas that need to be translated into visual and messaging elements.

Step Three

Design Phase

Exploring Moodboards

I will review your current branding materials (if available) and analyse your competitors' branding to understand your starting point and identify opportunities for differentiation. Using the insights gained from the Brand Discovery Session, I will create a couple of moodboards with preview images. These will help us narrow down the desired look and feel for your brand.

Concept Development

Once we have chosen the best direction, I will design the visual theme for your brand. Instead of focusing on individual elements like logos, colours, fonts, shapes, and images separately, we will evaluate them together in sample layouts.

 

This approach allows us to experience the brand holistically and make any necessary adjustments to ensure the right vibe. We may explore multiple logo solutions, and together we'll select the one that best aligns with the overall brand aesthetic. The concept presentation will be an exciting screensharing or in-person meeting where I explain the research and reasoning behind every design decision.

Step Four

Refinement

Adjustments

Due to the solid groundwork we've established, the proposed solutions are typically on target. However, if needed, we'll make minor adjustments to make them even more remarkable.

Step Five

Style Guide & Assets

Assets

With your final concept approved, I will move on to produce any assets agreed upon within the package, such as social media branding and business cards.

Style Guide

In the last phase, I will create your brand style guide, a crucial component of most projects. This guide will specify all the approved elements of your brand identity, including strategy, logo usage, typography, colour palette, icons (if applicable), image style guidelines, example layouts, and more. It will serve as a valuable reference, ensuring consistency across all your future materials and saving you time and effort.
